*** DarkerNet Server Link Application *** NOTE: All sections and sub-sections of this document are subject to change at any time. All staff members will be informed of any changes that are made to this document and all newly requested information will be asked of all staff members as needed. Section 1 - What your getting yourself into. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- a) All Staff Members must read, comprehend, and comply with DarkerNet Charter in its entirety. Breaking any of the charter rules may result in full removal from all staff access throughout the entire network. b) All perspective Servers must possess at least a 512K SDSL internet connection before they are considered for link. All systems must be run on a UNIX Based platform such as FreeBSD, Linux, Solaris, etc. c) All new staff members must be competent in their position as they are a representative of DarkerNet. You must be able to set up your own IRC daemon software. You must choose well knowledgable staff (Global and Local IRC Operators) for your server(s). d) All new staff members including Server Admins and Global and Local IRC Operators must read the services documentation, and the DarkerNet IRC operator policy before being allowed to participate in day-to-day staff activities. This is to ensure that all staff should be well versed to help both users and other IRC operators. e) All Staff Members must follow DarkerNet hierarchy which is, from high to low, Services Administrators, Services Operators & Server Administrators whom both report to Services Administrators but are of different job aspects on DarkerNet, Global IRC Operators, and Local IRC Operators. This hierarchy is designed to keep proper order on DarkerNet. f) Atleast one senior staff member (SAdmin) must have access to restart your server in the event that your server go down for one reason or another. It is you (The Admin) who chooses which senior staff member gets that access. g) All servers must use the same IRC Daemon to comply with network standards and overall stability. Modifications of the IRC daemon used on DarkerNet will not be tolerated by anyone but those that are members of the Software Development Committee. There are no exceptions. h) All staff members including Server Administrators, Global Operators, and Local Operators must be in the channels #DarkerNet and #Darker at all times while they are opered up on DarkerNet. NOTE: See DarkerNet charter for further information on the rules and regulations of DarkerNet. This does NOT count you, the server administrator. Co-Administrator is included in the Global Operators count (1 co-admin + 3 globals). All new network hubs are permitted 2 globals (1 co-admin + 1 global). The reason for this is that since a hub server does not hold clients, it does not need any local operators nor a large server staff. a) List below all staff that you will be taking on upon link. This section will change as DarkerNet takes on more hub's.
